The Championship: Sheffield Wednesday – Leeds

Tips before Friday’s Yorkshire derby

A Yorkshire derby is set in the Championship as Sheffield Wednesday hosts Leeds on Friday night.

Wednesday kicked off their season with a 4-0 thrashing of Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle, but the big win was followed by one of the worst performances we’ve seen from Sheffield Wednesday under Danny Rohl. Despite having more possession than The Black Cats, they ended up with a 0-4 defeat. It was a poor defensive performance, with weak individual displays and mistakes scattered throughout the game. Svante Ingelsson and Josh Windass were particularly poor and may start on the bench against Leeds.

Leeds have yet to secure a win this season. They’ve collected just two points from their first two matches, while also saying goodbye to the League Cup. They conceded three goals in the season opener at home against newly promoted Portsmouth, followed by a heavy 0-3 loss to Middlesbrough in the cup. In a match with only two shots on target, Leeds secured their second consecutive Championship draw last weekend against West Bromwich. “Considering the difficult week we had, I’m satisfied with this result. It wasn’t an offensive fireworks display, but there were many positives to take away. After conceding six goals in two games, I must compliment my players on their response to secure a valuable point,” said Leeds boss Daniel Farke to the English press after the goalless draw at The Hawthorns.

Leeds are still the biggest promotion favorites in the Championship, but after disappointing results at the start of the season and now the sale of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter, the odds for Leeds are rising.

Two teams with unstable starts to the season meet on Friday at Hillsborough, and they have one thing in common: they’ve conceded a lot of goals. We believe more goals are on the way, and we’re betting on both teams to score with Coolbet – at odds of 1.73.
