The Dane leaves following a run of six defeats in eight Championship matches
Norwich City have parted ways with head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup after a poor run of six defeats in eight Championship matches. Former Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere will take charge for the final two games of the season.
Thorup, appointed in May 2024 after David Wagner’s departure, won just 14 of 47 matches. His assistant, Glen Riddersholm, also leaves the club. Sporting director Ben Knapper said the change was necessary despite the original long-term vision.
Norwich, now 14th and 13 points off the play-offs, lost heavily to Portsmouth and Millwall over Easter, conceding eight goals. Wilshere, who joined as a first-team coach in October, will be assisted by Tony Roberts and Nick Stanley for the remaining fixtures against Middlesbrough and Cardiff.
Despite their struggles, the Canaries have scored 67 league goals—second only to leaders Leeds – but have also conceded 66, one of the worst defensive records in the division.
